We take data protection seriously

Protecting your privacy when processing personal data is a matter of great importance to us. When you visit our website, our web servers automatically record your internet service provider’s IP address, the website from which you are visiting us, the pages you view on our site, and the date and duration of your visit. This information is essential for the technical delivery of the web pages and the secure operation of the server. This data is not analysed on a personalised basis.

Personal data

Personal data is information relating to you as an individual. This includes your name, address and email address. You are not required to provide any personal data in order to visit our website. In some cases, we require your name and address, as well as further information, in order to provide you with the service you have requested.

The same applies if we supply you with information material on request or if we answer your enquiries. in these cases we will always point this out to you. in addition, we only store the data that you have sent us automatically or voluntarily.

When you use one of our services, we generally collect only the data necessary to provide you with that service. We may ask you for further information, but this is entirely voluntary. Whenever we process personal data, we do so in order to provide you with our service or to pursue our commercial objectives.

Contacting us

When you contact us (e.g. via the contact form, email, telephone or social media), the details provided by the enquirer are processed to the extent necessary to respond to the enquiry and any requested actions.

Responding to enquiries within the context of contractual or pre-contractual relationships is carried out to fulfil our contractual obligations or to respond to (pre-)contractual enquiries, and otherwise on the basis of our legitimate interests in responding to such enquiries.

Automatically stored data

Server log files 

The website provider automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are:

• Date and time of the request
• Name of the requested file
• Page from which the file was requested
• Access status (file transferred, file not found, etc.)
• the web browser and operating system used
• complete IP address of the requesting computer
• data volume transferred

This data is not combined with other data sources. Processing is carried out in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving the stability and functionality of our website.   

For reasons of technical security, in particular to defend against attempted attacks on our web server, we store this data temporarily. It is not possible for us to identify individual persons on the basis of this data. After seven days at the latest, the data is anonymised by truncating the IP address to the domain level, so that it is no longer possible to establish a link to an individual user. The data is also processed in anonymised form for statistical purposes; it is not cross-referenced with other data sets or disclosed to third parties, even in part. The number of page views is only reported as part of our server statistics, which we publish every two years in our annual report.

Cookies

When you visit our website, we may store information on your computer in the form of cookies. Many cookies contain what is known as a cookie ID. A cookie ID is a unique identifier for the cookie. It consists of a string of characters that enables websites and servers to associate the cookie with the specific web browser in which it was stored. This enables the websites and servers visited to distinguish the data subject’s individual browser from other web browsers that contain different cookies. A specific web browser can be recognised and identified via the unique cookie ID.

By using session cookies, the data controller is able to provide users of this website with a user-friendly service that would not be possible without the use of cookies. Without your consent, we only use technically necessary cookies on the legal basis of legitimate interest in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.

We only use personal data cookies to improve our website or for marketing/advertising purposes with your consent. On your first visit, you may voluntarily consent to tracking or analytics via the pop-up cookie banner. Where applicable, your data may be passed on to partners or third-party providers. These cookies will only be stored if you explicitly consent to them; the legal basis in this case is your consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR.

Matomo (local)

This website uses the open-source web analytics service Matomo. Matomo uses technologies that enable cross-page recognition of the user for the purpose of analysing user behaviour (e.g. cookies or device fingerprinting). The information collected by Matomo regarding the use of this website is stored on our server. The IP address is anonymised before storage.

Mit Hilfe von Matomo sind wir in der Lage Daten über die Nutzung unserer Website durch die Websitebesucher zu erfassen und zu analysieren. Hierdurch können wir u. a. herausfinden, wann welche Seitenaufrufe getätigt wurden und aus welcher Region sie kommen. Außerdem erfassen wir verschiedene Logdateien (z. B. IP-Adresse, Referrer, verwendete Browser und Betriebssysteme) und können messen, ob unsere Websitebesucher bestimmte Aktionen durchführen (z. B. Klicks, Käufe u. Ä.).

Die Nutzung dieses Analyse-Tools erfolgt auf Grundlage von Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO. Der Websitebetreiber hat ein berechtigtes Interesse an der anonymisierten Analyse des Nutzerverhaltens, um sowohl sein Webangebot als auch seine Werbung zu optimieren. Sofern eine entsprechende Einwilligung abgefragt wurde, erfolgt die Verarbeitung ausschließlich auf Grundlage von Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO und 25 Abs. 1 TTDSG, soweit die Einwilligung die Speicherung von Cookies oder den Zugriff auf Informationen im Endgerät des Nutzers (z. Wir hosten Matomo ausschließlich auf unseren eigenen Servern, sodass alle Analysedaten bei uns verbleiben und nicht weitergegeben werden.

Online job applications

The application data you submit to us is collected and processed electronically by us for the purpose of handling the application process.

If your application is rejected, the data you have provided will be automatically deleted two months after notification of the rejection or six months after the post has been filled. This does not apply if longer storage is necessary due to legal requirements (for example, the duty to provide evidence under the General Equal Treatment Act) or if you have expressly consented to longer storage in our database of prospective candidates.

Security

We have taken technical and administrative security precautions to protect your personal data against loss, destruction, manipulation and unauthorised access. All our employees and service providers working for us are obliged to comply with the applicable data protection laws.

Whenever we collect and process personal data, it is encrypted before being transmitted. This means that your data cannot be misused by third parties. Our security measures are subject to a continuous improvement process and our privacy policies are regularly updated. Please ensure that you have the most recent version.

Data subjects' rights

 You have the right at any time to access, rectify, erase or restrict the processing of your stored data, the right to object to the processing, as well as the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint in accordance with the provisions of data protection law.

Right of access

If we process your data and it is incomplete or inaccurate, you may at any time request that we rectify or complete it.

Right of rectification

If we process your data that are incomplete or incorrect, you can demand that we correct or complete them at any time.

Right of erasure

You may request that we erase your data if we are processing it unlawfully or if the processing disproportionately infringes upon your legitimate interests. Please note that there may be reasons preventing immediate erasure, e.g. in the case of statutory retention obligations.

Irrespective of whether you exercise your right to erasure, we will erase your data promptly and in full, provided that no contractual or statutory retention obligations prevent this.

Right to restriction of processing

You can demand that we restrict the processing of your data if

• you contest the accuracy of the data, for a period enabling us to verify the accuracy of the data.
• the processing of the data is unlawful, but you object to its erasure and instead request that its use be restricted,
• we no longer require the data for the intended purpose, but you still need it to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, or
• you have objected to the processing of the data.

Right to data portability

You can demand that we provide you with the data you have provided us with in a structured, common and machine-readable format and that you can transfer this data to another responsible person without hindrance from us, provided that

• we process this data on the basis of a revocable consent granted by you or for the fulfilment of a contract between us, and
• such processing is carried out by means of automated procedures.

Where technically feasible, you may request that we transfer your data directly to another data controller.

Right to object

If we process your data on the basis of a legitimate interest, you may object to this data processing at any time; this would also apply to profiling based on these provisions. We will then no longer process your data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
